Wooler URC Livestream – Advent Sunday, 1 December 2024

Everywhere I go at the moment, I seem to hear people saying “I can’t believe it’s Advent already! Where did November go?!” And yet here it is, Advent Sunday which marks the beginning of a time of preparation leading up to Christmas Day. Of course there are all the ‘essential’ preparations that we can’t fail to notice every time we turn on the TV or open the newspaper: the present-buying, food-purchasing and experience-creating that all involves us in spending more money than we probably should, but what about our personal, Spiritual preparation? Where does that feature on our ‘to-do’ list?
Our Advent services this year are themed around ‘Incarnating Love’ – and remind us what that love means and looks like, and culminates of course with the celebration of incarnation at Christmas.
Linda starts us off this Sunday by thinking about ‘The Peaceable Kingdom’, and explores what it means to live in peace with each other in a world where peace often seems distant. It is a reminder that the real work is done by all of us together as love in incarnated one action at a time. We will share communion together as part of our worship.
Everyone is welcome at Wooler URC
