The first Wooler Messy Church was held at the Cheviot Centre on Sunday 14 January – and there was a fantastic turnout!.
64 people came – 24 adults and 40 children – and all enjoyed crafts, a bible story, songs and prayer based around the story of Noah – ‘A fresh start’. This was followed by pasta, sauce and garlic bread for everyone (with an emergency dash to stock up at the Co-Op!)
We had 18 helpers drawn from St Mary’s Church, Wooler URC and Crossing Places.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Facebook comments have been very positive and we have already had several people enquire about our next event. Our planning group have come away with several learning points – not least of which is that we will need a larger venue next time!
The next Messy Church in Wooler will be on Palm Sunday, 25 March at 3pm in the Glendale
Hall.
