This Sunday we reach the third petition of the Lord’s Prayer: “Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.” This is perhaps the most challenging line of the prayer, and one that we need to think carefully about.
Patrick is leading our worship, which fittingly includes the celebration of the Lord’s Supper as we take communion together. If we we ever needed a practical example of forgiveness, then surely gathering around the table and remembering Christ’s sacrifice for each of us provides the clearest demonstration of forgiveness that we could imagine.
