Wooler URC Livestream – Sunday 23 February 2025

Martin and Patrick are leading our worship this Sunday, and Martin is reflecting on the inspiration that CS Lewis has had on his faith. CS Lewis was an author, Oxford scholar and Anglican theologian. Perhaps his best known books were the Chronicles of Narnia, which have become a much-loved classic by millions of children and adults alike.
Raised in Ireland in a Christian family, Lewis was a confirmed atheist for much of his younger life. He later described himself as being paradoxically “very angry with God for not existing” and “equally angry with him for creating a world”. He eventually returned to Christianity, having been influenced by arguments with his Oxford colleague and friend J. R. R. Tolkien, writing: “In the Trinity Term of 1929 I gave in, and admitted that God was God, and knelt and prayed: perhaps, that night, the most dejected and reluctant convert in all England.”
Do join us as we explore the certainty of Lewis’s faith, and the confidence it gave him.
Everyone is welcome at Wooler URC.
