Here are 5 reasons to consider:
1. You join a huge family!
Becoming a church member means joining the world-wide family of Christians, a community of people who believe in God. Being part of this family encourages us in our faith as we work together to show God’s love and mercy to the world.
2. We can grow together Spiritually
When we join a body of like-minded people, we naturally make friends and learn from each other’s experience and knowledge. This helps us to grow in our faith as we learn more about following Jesus.
3. You can have a say
Every organisation has to make decisions from time to time – and some are more significant than others. In the URC, church members have the responsibility for making decisions at a Church meeting, which are held 3 or 4 times a year. Only Church members may vote.
4. It demonstrates your commitment
It’s good to belong. Becoming a member is a visible sign that you’ve found a comfortable, safe place and that you want to be a part of it. It shows others that you share the values that the Church
5. Membership strengthens the Church
We’re stronger together, and a thriving church membership lets our community know that we have something special to offer. A strong membership also helps when we plan projects with other partners.
Church membership is open to anyone who wants to follow Jesus Christ.
New members are normally welcomed as part of a church service.
