This Sunday we start our new, six-week series which draws from chapter 6 of Paul’s letter to the Ephesians. This letter is one of Paul’s most magnificent epistles, and is an encouragement to the Christians in Ephesus. Christians there were living at the heart of a pagan society, so firstly Paul reminds them of God’s plan to transform the world through the saving power of Jesus. He goes on to strengthen them by encouraging Christians in the church to live lives that are consistent with their position of being saved by grace. Unity. Purity. Harmony. These are the characteristics of people who follow Jesus, but following Jesus means that we will be engaged in a Spiritual battle, a form of warfare. To remain victorious in this battle, we must put on ‘every piece of God’s armour’ says Paul. And Paul then describes six pieces of armour that are essential in our Christian walk which we shall look at one by one. Fliss starts our series this Sunday by thinking about ‘The Belt of Truth’. So for the next six weeks, let’s look at what these pieces of armour mean for each one of us, and let’s collectively learn how to put them on with strength and with grace.
If you can’t make it to church each Sunday, you can always join the service live online, or catch up afterwards – so don’t miss out!
